NEW TRIP SHORTENS TIME EXPLORING SON DOONG
November 07,2017 02:30 PM
From next year, visitors will be able to see the world’s largest cave, Son Doong in central Quang Binh province, more easily, by overcoming ‘Vietnam’s Great Wall’ - a stalagmite formation nearly 100 metres tall near the end of the cave, shortening the time needed for trips from five days and four nights to four days and three nights. The new trip is being offered following a three-month pilot. Ladders with rubber padding are used, to avoid any impact on the wall. A 65-metre-long slope at the top of the ladder is navigated with help from ropes, allowing visitors to climb to the top of the wall. They no longer have to return the way they came, and can exit the cave at this point.
